   Burns said he will seek to bring a simple, yet powerful, strategy to the bench if elected. He said he plans on being fair, impartial and upholding the law.
   “My diverse educational and professional background has allowed me to develop the skills necessary to be an effective and fair District Court Judge,” he said.
   Burns received a Bachelors of Arts degree in American History from Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. He received a law degree from Notre Dame University, South Bend, Ind., in 1991.
   Burns has worked as an assistant attorney for the Unified Government since 1996.

   Cahill said he will carry on the long-standing tradition of the excellent Wyandotte County Judiciary. He also said he will serve the community with fairness, dedication and integrity.
   “I feel I am uniquely qualified to be judge of the District Court due to my wide array of experience,” he said. “I have enjoyed serving my fellow Wyandotte County citizens, both as a prosecutor and as a private attorney.    I will serve the people as a fair and even-handed judge.”
Cahill earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Washburn University, Topeka, Kan., in 1990. He graduated from the Washburn Law School in 1995.
   Cahill worked as an Assistant Wyandotte County District Attorney from 1996 to 2000. He opened Cahill Law Offices in 2001.

   Klapper said his first goal will be to make the courts more accessible to the public by improving the functioning of the judicial system.
   Klapper said the public needs to be better informed on the process. He said he would focus on making the judiciary more aware of the citizens concerns.
   “I filed for this position because I feel that I have the requisite experience, temperament and concern for the Wyandotte County Community as well as the desire to improve the Judicial System through daily involvement within the system,” he said.
   Klapper was a prosecutor in the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office and for the City of Kansas City, Kansas’ Legal Department. He is a permanent Pro-Tem Judge in Wyandotte County District Court.

   Ms. Lidtke said she wants to serve the community as a hard-working, fair and impartial judge. She said she wants to be the second female judge on the Wyandotte County bench.
   “After serving my community for nearly 15 years as one of the most successful criminal prosecutors in Wyandotte County, I now want to take those work ethics to the bench where I can continue making a positive impact on our community and on the lives of individual citizens,” she said.

   McAfee said he is running for District Court Judge to provide fair and impartial judicial services, in accordance with the law. He also said he would like to implement a judicial system that will be both productive and cost effective, not only for those appearing before the court, but for the taxpayers.
   McAfee said he would like to minimize the cost to litigants while affording a fair forum for legal matters.
   “I have dealt with people and been involved in the community my entire life,” McAfee said. “I decided to become a lawyer because I thought I could help people and for the last 23 years, I have tried to do this in my practice.
   McAfee, a graduate of Washington High School, has practiced law as a sole practitioner for more than 23 years.

   Ms. Meyer said she will use her strong leadership skills to uphold the laws with honesty and integrity. She said she has a lot of respect for the people of Wyandotte County and will utilize her experience as both an educator and a prosecutor.
   “With my experience as a prosecutor for almost 15 years and my leadership skills and community involvement. I felt I had strengths and skills that would allow me to be a competent judge and represent the people of Wyandotte County,” Ms. Meyer said.

   Sen. Brownback was elected as U.S. Representative , Second District, in 1994. In 1996, he was elected as U.S. Senator , filling out the unexpired term of U.S. Sen. Bob Dole.

   Arch P. Naramore, has been labeled as a “Maverick Republican” by his supporters because he is not promoting the traditional Republican platform.
Naramore said he is a proponent of stem cell research, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy and fiscal responsibility.
   “I think the status quo needsto be shaken up in Washington,” Naramore said. “Kansans are currently being represented by a harlot of special interests who have gotten most of his financial support from people and corporations from outside of Kansas.
   “The true interests of Kansas are not being represented by Mr. (Sam) Brownback,” he said. “Changes need to be made, and I intend to do my best to facilitate those changes. I’m not a Washington insider. I represent the people of Kansas.” Naramore said he will also look out for the small farmer and school children.

   Jones was an unsuccessful candidate for U.S. Representative, Third District, in 1990. He lost in a race against the incumbent, Jan Meyers.

   Fitzgerald said he is running for the State Senate so he can protect Kansas family values, improve education funding and implement stronger economic development.
   He said he will protect the families of Kansas by introducing a defense of marriage act; regulate the abortion industry for greater safety; and support families who have concerns about caring for older adults.
   Fitzgerald said he plans to improve education funding by reducing administrative overhead, gaining more resources for teachers and standardizing school budgets statewide.    Grodberg said he wants to help solve the problem of inadequate funds for public education. He said this can be done with a revision of the tax structure without a tax increase.
   Grodberg served as the mayor and commissioner in the City of Leavenworth from 1989 to 1993. He has been active in various voluntary organizations including his church, the United Way and the Rotary Club.
   He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and a Master of Business Administration degree from Ohio University, Athens. He retired two years ago from a career in restaurant franchise business. He had Pizza Hut restaurants in Lansing, Leavenworth, Kearney and Atchison, Kan.
   “By applying a cost-benefit analysis, I can find those existing programs that are well intended, but not performing well,” he said. “Reducing or eliminating those programs will provide funding for other needs without raising taxes.”

   Frownfelter said the district is not being represented as well as it could be. He said there needs to be a change and that he can better represent the hard-working taxpayers of the district.

   Sen. Steineger said he has many ways to improve Wyandotte County. He wants to find a way to bring casino gaming here, hold the line on taxes by halting wasteful spending, and growing the economy by generating new jobs and more revenue.
   He also said he supports neighborhood efforts to fight crime and blight and increase funding for birth-twelve public education, especially early childhood programs such as all-day kindergarten, Head Start and Parents as Teachers.
   “I have worked and want to continue to help make Wyandotte County a better place to live, hold a job, go to school and visit.” Sen. Steineger said.

   Rep. Cox said he wants to promote economic development and the creation of more jobs while developing a plan for proper education funding and the revision of the education formula.

   Rep. Cox served on the Bonner Springs Board of Education from 1979 to1983. He has served six terms in the Kansas House of Representatives from 1993 to today. Rep.    Kobach, who served as a senior Bush Administration official and Counsel to Attorney General John Ashcroft from 2001 to 2003, said he is proud of his Kansas roots.
   “Growing up in Kansas taught me the value of hard work, perseverance and honesty, and instilled in me the importance of faith and family,” he said.

   Taff said he will use his 15 years of recent tactical military experience to fight the war on terrorism. He also said he will provide support for small businesses by keeping taxes low, permitting associational health plans and allowing tax deductions for health insurance premiums paid on behalf of employees.
   Taff said he will also support education by fully funding federal education mandates.
